作曲
作曲者はスコットランドの作詞家であり作曲家のアリシア・スコット（Alicia Ann, Lady John Scott,1810–1900）です。
彼女は古いスコットランドの詩『Kempye Kaye』のために書いた曲をアレンジして『Annie Laurie』に使いました。
また歌詞の一部を書き換えたとも言われています。

Annie Laurie（アニー・ローリー）はスコットランドの民謡です。
この曲に登場する女性アニー・ローリーは実在の人物で、マクスウェルトンの初代男爵の末娘です。
作詞者のウィリアム・ダグラスとアニー・ローリーは恋人でしたが、アニーの父親によって結婚は認められませんでした。
この詩が書かれたのは父親に反対されて悲しみに暮れていた時期で、アニーを思い続けて綴られました。

名曲ですよね。
アニー・ローリーが実在の女性の名前とは知りませんでした。
動画はいくつか見てみたのですが、やはり男性歌手の演奏が雰囲気が合うように感じるのですが、女性歌手の動画のアレンジがとても気に入ったので、悩んだ末に両方リンクさせていただくことにしました。
