Bluebells of Scotland（スコットランドの釣鐘草）はスコットランドの民謡です。
戦争に行った恋人の帰りを待つ女性の心情を描いた曲です。
この曲にも多くのバージョンが存在します。
またヨーゼフ・ハイドンがこの曲のピアノ・トリオのアレンジをしていて、さらに多くの作曲家がこのメロディーを使っています。
日本語タイトルでは『美しき』が知られています。

作詞・作曲

作詞者も作曲者も正確には分かりません。
イギリスの女優で作家のドラ・ジョーダン（Dorothea Jordan,1761–1816）がこの曲を「オリジナル曲」として演奏していますが、それが彼女の音域に合わせてメロディーを変更しただけだと言う研究者もいます。
日本語の訳詞は稲垣千頴、津川主一、堀内敬三、野口耽介などの作品があります。

作詞者と作曲者については諸説があり、調べてみても正解は分かりませんでした。
まあ古い曲であり、バリエーションも多いためでしょう。
それでも曲は良いですね。
動画は男性が歌っているものをリンクさせていただきましたが、なかなか特徴的で、個人的に好きです。
