Michael, Row the Boat Ashore（漕げよマイケル）はアメリカの民謡（スピリチュアル）です。
他にも『Michael Rowed the Boat Ashore』『Michael, Row Your Boat Ashore』『Michael, Row That Gospel Boat』などとも呼ばれます。
この曲は南北戦争中にノースカロライナ州のセントヘレナ島で作られたと言われていて、北軍の海軍が封鎖を強化する前に島から出た、元奴隷たちによって歌われました。
アメリカのフォークバンド、ザ・ハイウェイメンの録音が有名です。

確かに聞いた事のある曲ですが、歌の背景は知りませんでした。
当時の事を語れる人はもういませんが、それでも音楽は残る。
大事な事ですよね。
