Flee as a bird（邦題：追憶）はアメリカの歌（讃美歌）です。
タイトルをそのまま日本語にすると「鳥のように飛び立て」になり、他にも『Flee as a bird to your mountain』とも呼ばれます。
歌詞は、鳥のように山に逃れて、清らな泉で罪を洗い流しなさいと語り、神による救済を表します。
この曲はニューオリンズの音楽葬においてよく演奏されます。
日本版では『追憶』などのタイトルで知られています。

作曲

作曲者は分かりません。
スペイン民謡のメロディーだと言われています。

作詞

作詞者はアメリカの詩人で作家のメアリー・S・B・シンドラー(Mary S. B. Shindler,1810–1883)です。
19世紀半ばの讃美歌作家として成功した人物です。
日本語版でもっとも有名な『追憶』は国文学者の古関吉雄氏（1908-1995）による詩です。

しっとりとした素敵な曲ですね。
ニューオリンズでのセカンド・ライン・パレードは音楽葬とは切り離されて日常的にも行われているようなので、一度見てみたいですね。
