この曲の作者はイギリスの詩人で作詞家、作家であったトーマス・ヘインズ・ベイリー（Thomas Haynes Bayly, 1797–1839）です。
日本語の歌詞は、『久しき昔』は牧師で教会音楽家の津川主一氏（1896-1971）、『思い出』は国文学者の古関吉雄氏（1908-1995）です。

良い曲ですねえ。
昔の恋人に会いに戻ってきて、一緒に歩いた日々を語り合っているのでしょうか。
動画は、やはり古いレコードの演奏などの方がイメージが合うのですが、あえて最近の歌手の方の動画をリンクさせていただきました。
