Home on the Range（峠の我が家）はアメリカの民謡です。
詩の元のタイトルは『My Western Home』で、「バッファローが歩き回る家を私に与えてください」と歌います。
そこは鹿とカモシカが遊ぶ場所であり、空は一日中曇らない場所です。
この曲はカンザス州の州歌になっています。
日本語タイトルは『峠の我が家』の他に『この地の我が家』や『平原の我が家』などもあります。

作曲

作曲者はアメリカのミュージシャン、ダニエル・E・ケリー（Daniel E. Kelley,1843-1905）です。
彼は作詞者のブリュースター・M・ヒグリーの友人でした。

作詞者はアメリカの医学博士ブリュースター・M・ヒグリー（Brewster M. Higley,1823–1911)です。
彼はカンザス州スミス郡、ウェスト・ビーバー・クリーク近くの小さな小屋に住んでいて、周囲の環境からインスピレーションを得てこの詩を書いたと言われています。
この小屋は現在「Home on the Range Cabin」の名前で「National Register of Historic Places」に登録されています。

こんな家でゆっくりと過ごすのは憧れですね。
コンビニやショッピングモールがなくても、それ以上の生活が得られるんでしょう。
