She Wore a Yellow Ribbon（黄色いリボン）はアメリカの民謡です。
首に黄色いリボンを付けた女性、彼女が陽気の良い５月になってもそれを着けていたので、理由を聞くと、「遠く離れている恋人のため」と答えます。
黄色いリボンは恋人に結んでもらった物だったようです。
アメリカ西部を舞台としたジョン・ウェイン主演の同名の映画で一躍有名になりました。
またッチ・ミラーやアンドリュース・シスターズなどの人気ミュージシャンもこの曲を演奏しました。

メロディーも良いですが、歌詞もまた良いですねえ。
西部劇のイメージが強いですが、歌詞はそうでもないです。
首にリボンを結んでくれた人を待ってるなんて、素敵じゃないですか！
